Data Disclaimer

Tick genome data used in this database was was obtained from the following publication:

Large-Scale Comparative Analyses of Tick Genomes Elucidate Their Genetic Diversity and Vector Capacities (Jia et al.)

About

This database was created in association with the Mosquito Small RNA Genomics Resource and the Lau Laboratory at Boston University.
On this website, users can access information from our database of transposable elements from 7 tick species.
Transposable element data was obtained using the RepeatModeler tool.

Searching the Database

Transposon data in this database can be searched using a variety of filters.
Use the dropdown menus on the Browse Database page to search by tick species, transposon class, transposon order, or transposon superfamily.
In addition, users may enter a sequence size to display results below a desired length.

Our data includes a number of sequences with unknown transposon class, order, and superfamily classifications. To exclude sequences with unknown classifications, check the "Do Not Include Other" box..

Viewing Plots

Graphical summaries of the data can be viewed with the buttons under "Click to view plots".
To view a summary of the transposon class, order, superfamily, and length information for a particular species, click the Database Species Summary button and select a species from the dropdown.
The other four buttons for Sequence Length, Class, Order, and Superfamily will include an updated plot depending on the user's filtering parameters.
Note that in the graphs, there are two categories labeled other:
"OTHER" (all-caps) indicates sequences for which the class, order, and superfamily is unknown.
"Other" (lowercase) indicates categories representing 1% or less of the data in the graph.

Downloads / Uploads

After filtering the data by your desired parameters, selected datasets can be downloaded as .txt or .fa files.
Authorized users may update the database with new transposon data for any of the 7 species already in the database.
